I have always been a craft person. Pretty much everything from painting to sewing. Then about 20 years ago I learned to make stainglass panels. I loved doing it but it really takes so much time to finish a product. Then about 3 years ago I read on a glass forum about lampworking and took a beginners class. Since then I have taken classes with Leah Fairbanks, Kristen Franzen Orr, Pam Dugger, Tink Martin, Larry Scott, Ron and Rocio Bearer, Corina Tettinger, and Dustin Tabor. Each has a different technique and specialty. The most important thing to me was learning their tips and techniques to hopefullly help me grow as a lampworker in the most efficient way.
I have really become addicted to lampworking, doing it almost every day. I am a mother to four grown children and my oldest daughter does some of the designing and making of the jewelry. In fact she showed me all I know about it, except for a few magazines. Each project is time consuming making the beads, putting them into the perfect piece of jewelry, photographing them and loading them into the website. But still a quicker instant gratification than stainglass was.
